COURT SESSIONS
The City of Americus Municipal Court holds court at least once a week.
All cases are placed on one of either of the first two Mondays of the month. On that date persons can enter a plea of guilty (or nolo contendere in some situations) or have their case set on a contest calendar. These arrangement/plea calendars begin at 12:30 p.m. although you may be required to be present earlier. Defendants should refer to their summons for the exact time.
The third and fourth Wednesdays of the month are for contested matters. These sessions begin at 8:00 a.m.
Cases for which the defendant has an attorney are scheduled for a Friday. Trial Fridays are at least the third Friday in February, the second Friday in May, the second Friday in August and the second Friday in November. These calendars begin at 8:00 a.m. Defendants and witnesses should refer to their summons for the exact time. Also, defendants should be in contact with their Attorneys.
More dates will be scheduled as the case load requires.
